Franz Xaver Gruber (25 November 1787 – 7 June 1863) was an European primary school teacher, church organist and composer in the adjoining of Arnsdorf, who is suited known for composing the air to "Stille Nacht" ("Silent Night").

Life

Gruber was born on 25 November 1787 in the settlement of Hochburg-Ach, Upper Austria, honesty son of linen weavers, Josef and Maria Gruber.
